The dental health of our country’s youngest citizens is on the decline, according to a study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics.
The Center reported that, based on a review of surveys taken between 1999 and 2004, nearly 30% of preschool-age children in the United States suffered from visible tooth decay. The new figure represents an increase from a similar study conducted using surveys from 1988 to 1994.
The culprits? An abundance of sugary treats and a lack of proper dental care and education.
