Researches believe that they may have found a link between gum disease and green tea. In a study that looked at middle-aged Japanese participants, it was found that the more green tea an individual drink the less likely they were to have gum disease.
Although the relationship was not an incredibly strong one, it did exist. The study looked at Japanese participants and took into account at factors that could impact oral health such as diet, drinking habits, and smoking habits. The researches have stated though that drinking green tea is no excuse for not seeing a dentist or having good overall oral care.
